I advise on strategy, management and organisational development for professional services businesses.
I sell the scars on my back. My involvement in professional services firm leadership and management began in the mid 1980s. Between 1992 and 2009 I was the Managing Partner of my firm and was the longest serving Managing Partner of any Top 20 UK law firm. Upon standing down as Managing Partner in 2009 I launched an innovative Professional Practices Consultancy.
In over thirty years of involvement in professional services firm leadership and management, both as a principal and as an advisor, I have dealt extensively with strategic and business planning, mergers, acquisitions, performance management, change management, the entire spectrum of partnership issues and the development and operation of a large professional practice in a continually changing business environment.
Five characteristics influence my work with my clients. I am business focused, providing practical and commercial solutions. I am a team player, enjoying working together with my clients and respecting their individuality. I am determined to succeed, achieving success through the contributions of all involved in a project. I am open and honest, building relationships by being fair and straightforward. I am dynamic, driving to find innovative approaches.
I have a passion for photography and a longstanding interest in Angevin history. I use images and historical analogy in my work. I believe that learning from experience is not limited to learning from recent or current business activity – there is much to learn from in the past too!
